After a few videos on youtube I figured out how to use it, but I'm still not sure what can I do with it, any suggestions?

I made cord on it and used it with an S-Hook to crochet a mat for my little dog to nap on.
Hmmmm. I'm intrigued. I actually had to look up what a french knitter does. Maybe you could put strings on a beanie?
The dog pad is a lovely idea!! Actually I'm wondering what are the advantages of the french knitter if compared to the i-cord technique, wich is fast and easy. I'll let you know, in the meanwhile I'll do a cat mat! :D
